Alleged UFO Retrieval Footage | Mount Agung, Bali (1990s-2000)
After a recent interview with guest Al Sandy Suharjono — a longtime UFO researcher from Indonesia with nearly three decades of experience investigating sightings and building one of the country’s oldest UFO research communities, BETA-UFO Indonesia. A man who also served as an Assistant Special Staff member to the President of Indonesia from 2019 to 2024, told me he had seen what he believed was authentic footage of a ufo (disc) being recovered by helicopter circa 1990s. Full episode here: https://youtu.be/p6KgMOqJnOg?si=h97GrotOqWHaz92E I had never seen this footage before and after the podcast went on a deep dive to try and locate it. I found it in a few places, but none seemed to have any views or traction - and it's not one I'd seen widely shared in the UFO community (which is odd, as this is the sort of thing that would have been shared, critiqued and analysed). The footage had been shared by Reddit user u/Astral-project as well as Instagram user @ anugerahsentot - both claiming the footage is from January 2000. Both claim the footage is from Mount Agung, Bali and January 2000. Reverse search doesn't yield anything earlier, however if this was a VHS recording medium, then when it was digitised and where it is from is a mystery. Want to support the channel? Here’s why: What points to real footage: • The image looks like a low-resolution, analog-style video frame (noise, color bleed, scanline-like artifacts). AI images usually look too clean or have different kinds of distortion. • The object (looks like a submersible arm or probe over terrain) has consistent lighting and geometry. AI often struggles with mechanical structures and perspective alignment. • The background terrain has natural irregularity (random textures, depth, shadow gradients) that feels physically captured rather than synthesized. What raises slight suspicion: • The contrast between the dark object and bright ground is very stark—AI sometimes exaggerates this, though cameras can too in harsh conditions. • The overall composition (central object pointing downward) is very “framed,” which AI sometimes mimics—but it’s also common in documentary footage. Most likely explanation: This looks like real footage from an underwater or remote probe camera (possibly older footage or compressed video), rather than modern AI generation. Rough likelihood estimate: • Real / captured footage: ~80–90% • AI-generated: ~10–20% DATE Earliest date of a UFO sighting recorded in this area was 17 August 1973, when, at around 2:00 pm, a Japanese tourist, Ryo Terumoto, unintentionally captured a UFO in his camera frame while snapping a picture of Bali’s Mount Agung. When Terumoto received the photograph after it was developed and printed, he noticed a large object flying against the background of the iconic Balinese volcano. This doesn’t help much other than to suggest when saucers or disc’s were first spotted in the area. Due to the unknown, but taking in to account the film quality an my guests local knowledge I’ve dated this 1990s-2000. What do you think? #ufo #uap #bali #mountagung #ufo #ufohelicopterfootage
