Did Non-Human Intelligences Come to the Buddha to Receive Teachings? What Do You Think?
How do you guys feel, as human beings, when thinking about this? In Buddhism, after the Buddha attained enlightenment, he did not teach the Dharma only to humans. It is said that he also taught devas, Brahmas, nagas, yakshas, spirits, ghosts, and many beings from other realms of existence. There are even stories where these higher beings themselves came and requested the Buddha to teach them. The more I think about it, the more it feels like Buddhism may have already been describing what people today call extraterrestrials or non-human intelligences. Think about it carefully. Devas and higher beings in Buddhism are described as far beyond ordinary humans. They can appear and disappear, travel between realms, communicate in ways humans cannot, possess higher knowledge, live for extremely long periods of time, and exist in dimensions invisible to normal human perception. Does that not sound very similar to the beings described in UFO encounters and discussions about extraterrestrials or interdimensional entities? Modern UFO discussions often talk about advanced beings with higher intelligence, advanced technology, the ability to manipulate reality, move silently, appear suddenly, disappear instantly, and observe humanity from a higher level. Buddhism described beings with similar qualities thousands of years ago. But here is the most mind-blowing part: Even though these beings are vastly more advanced than humans, Buddhism clearly states that they are still not enlightened. They are still trapped in samsara, and many of them came to the Buddha for wisdom after his enlightenment. That makes the Buddha’s realization something even higher than the level of these advanced non-human beings. Imagine that for a second. A human being from Earth attained a state so profound that even devas, Brahmas, nagas, and higher-dimensional beings came to him for teachings. Not humans trying to learn from aliens— But higher beings seeking wisdom from the Buddha. Another important point: If these beings received Dharma from the Buddha, then many of them became followers and protectors of the Dharma. In Buddhism, devas and higher beings are often described as protectors of the teachings and of practitioners. So if devas are connected to what people today call extraterrestrials or non-human intelligences, then Buddhism is essentially saying that many of these higher beings themselves respect the Buddha and follow his teachings. It amazes me that our Earth has given rise to a being like the Buddha—someone from whom even beings from other worlds came to receive teachings. I have also heard in UFO discussions and whistleblower testimonies that Earth is considered a very special place in the cosmos, and this could be one of the main reasons why. That would mean the Buddha realized something so profound—beyond all conditioned existence—that it surpasses any intelligence, civilization, technology, or form of non-human advancement. And importantly, the Buddha is described as the “Teacher of Gods and Humans.” Not only humans, but even gods, devas, and higher beings are shown as students before him. Because in Buddhism, even higher beings bow before a Buddha. As a human being, I feel a sense of awe reflecting on this. It also gives me hope. If advanced beings regard the Buddha as their teacher, then they may also hold some level of respect for humanity—since their teacher was born as a human being. So what do you guys think about this? I’d really love to hear your thoughts and how you genuinely feel about it. Does this idea give you a sense of awe? Does it make you see the Buddha in a completely different way, or deepen your respect for him in any way? I’m really curious how this lands for you. submitted by /u/Adept-Engine5606 [link] [comments]
