I was driving one stormy night. There was lots of lightning in the south and the east from storms that were around the area. I looked down at a text and suddenly the sky lit up, and it lasted for a bit. While it was lighting up, I looked all around in the sky for lightning, but I didn't see any. It was almost as if it were flashing above me. Then when I looked to my right, I saw a circle of light probably around 5-10 ft wide and it was 20 ft from me on the ground in the field. It flickered a little for a second or two, and then everything stopped flashing. Now I don't know how thoroughly I looked around in the sky before I saw the circle to my right, but I know I saw the circle. I also don't know if the light shining/flashing down on me from above was still doing so when I saw the circle of light in the field because my focus shifted entirely. I could only explain the sky lighting up as if I could tell there was flashing, and I thought I saw rays/beams of light coming from above me, but I didn't see any lightning around. Imagine someone was shining a giant flashlight on your car and then to the right of you 20 ft. That's what this was like. The circle also stayed to my right, meaning it stayed with the speed of my car. This whole experience lasted no longer than probably 8 seconds (that's not for sure though). About 15 minutes later, after researching possible lightning causes and finding there was nothing that explained what I saw, I went back to make sure there were no grassy spots or puddles that could've been illuminated by a flash, although I was sure that there wasn't anything in the field and that even if there were, it wouldn't make sense that the circle of light stayed with me. After checking, I did indeed confirm that there was no spot in the stretch it happened in the field that could've illuminated from being wet.
