If UFOs are aliens, do they care whether we see them or not?
Here's the bit I don't get about those who think UFOs serve as evidence for aliens. On one hand, if UFOs are aliens who don't care that we see them, then why don't we see them in places we would expect to. Why don't our radars and telescopes and eyeballs see their ships traversing our solar system and orbiting our planet? Why don't we see them flying around all the time, hovering over our cities, landing on the White House oval? If there are aliens who didn't actually care if we see them, we should have literally tons of high-quality video evidence of alien spacecraft and actual aliens. The standard answer to this, of course, is that the aliens do care if we see them. For instance, they have cloaking technology they employ that prevents us from seeing them in our solar system or in orbit, and obviously that they intentionally have not provided incontrovertible proof of their existence by hovering over or landing for extended periods in public places. And even when they supposedly abduct people, those people are often sleeping and claim to have their memories erased or altered, which again suggests the aliens do care about us seeing or gathering evidence about them. And this secrecy in turn suggests that the aliens have reasons -- nefarious or otherwise -- to be covert, to hide their existence, reasons like planning an invasion, infiltrating our governments, making Prime Directive observations, performing experimentation, etc. This is all part and parcel of mainstream beliefs about UFOs equating to aliens. But then the question is, if these aliens do care about us seeing them, why do we see them at all? Why do they supposedly fly around in the night sky with their lights on? Why do they supposedly buzz aircraft in an uncloaked form? Why do they supposedly hover uncloaked over certain peoples rural houses long enough for them to run inside, grab a camera, and take photos. Why do they float around in the sky over military bases and cities, knowing we have tons of security cameras. None of that sounds like what you would do if you actually cared about us seeing them. I don't see how you can have it both ways: that aliens care enough about hiding to prevent us from detecting them in cases we'd expect to see them, but they don't care enough about hiding to take simple precautions, like turning off their headlights at night. submitted by /u/theyoodooman [link] [comments]
