On September 27, police entered a locked bedroom in Springville, Utah and discovered five members of the same family deceased. Benjamin and Kristi Strack, and their three children. There were no signs of forced entry. No visible trauma. No evidence of a struggle. What investigators did find were cups of liquid, a pitcher of juice, and a child’s sand pail containing a drug mixture later linked to the deaths. Authorities described the case as a family suicide, but police statements and contemporaneous reporting acknowledged unanswered questions surrounding the scene, the delivery mechanism, and the influence that preceded the deaths.
