Looking for Primary Source Information on the 1952 Washington D.C. UFO Events
Hello. I am looking for information on the UFO sightings over Washington D.C. in 1952. Preferably firsthand accounts or books/research done shortly after the event as opposed to decades later. There seemed to be a lot of government and military staff involved, identifying fast moving objects that changed direction sharply. There was also a high level of involvement from military and civilian radar operators. What stands out to me and piques my interest most, is that the events over Washington D.C. take place just a few years after military investigations were taking the possibility of non-human or non-US craft seriously, but after this event the public stance of the military seems to pivot away from lending any credibility to those possibilities despite not being able to explain several sightings. I also see that after Project Sign and Project Grudge, the official conclusions were that the military saw public hysteria as a potential lever for enemy nations and sought to quash any or all speculation. The recent release of documents seems to back this narrative, where we serious concern about the flights themselves around 1947, then a series of high profile committees that openly admit that control of public perception was the only tangible goal worth pursuing. If anyone can point out books, or first hand accounts that were recorded shortly after the 1952 event it would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/LiquidSilver2000 [link] [comments]
