My thoughts on our relationship to NHI, using human animal relationships as analogies.
My thoughts on our relationship to NHI, using human animal relationships as analogies.
A thought experiment I’ve been tinkering with to explain what we are in the eyes of NHI, using our relationship with various other (lesser) species here on earth. I see basically 4 possibilities and I will list them in order of best to worst case scenario: (1, best case) We’re chimpanzees. - “Lower” but genetically close, and developmentally close in the big picture. Interesting to observe, minimally invasive experimentation. We respect chimps and love them because we see ourselves in them. We treat them well in captivity and try to leave them alone for the most part. This would be an NHI species slightly more advanced than us, and I hope with all my being that this is what we are. (2, second best case) We’re Dogs - More substantial difference in genetics and development. This case is unique in that dogs, as they are, would not exist without human intervention ie. selective breeding. We love dogs unconditionally, but we neuter them, keep them indoors, control every aspect of their lives. We try to make life enjoyable for them but they wouldn’t exist/couldn’t survive without us. I believe this is likely the “indigestible truth” that we all keep hearing about. Neutered and locked inside, to keep us out of trouble, and stop us from causing too much trouble. (3, second worst case) We’re Ants - Vast difference in advancement and genetics. We are known about, and studied with intrigue. However a single ant is inconsequential. We all step on an ant now and again and think nothing of it. Ants in the house? Big problem, poison them and squash on site. A growing, sizeable anthill in the backyard? We’ll keep an eye on it and if it becomes an inconvenience to daily life or the integrity of our house/property, then they will be destroyed. I worry that this is what we may be, however an ant doesn’t perceive the human upon whose property it is “intruding”. So if this is the case, I don’t think it’s the NHI we know about, that we have to worry about. (4, worst case) We’re Cattle - This one is self explanatory, and terrifying. We don’t hate cows, most people actually really like cows and feel for them. However, we have a lot of mouths to feed, we happen to like the taste of beef, and we don’t have to think about much when we buy hamburgers at the grocery store. We could be a species *just intelligent enough* to where we could be dropped off at a close-ish star system (after wiping out the resident reptilians of course aka dinosaurs)…co bred with an existing species of the planet for survivability reasons.. and left for a few millennia. Only to be revisited once ripe to reap the harvest that was once sown, provided we don’t rot first (blow ourselves up). Or perhaps meat isn’t the resource that is being farmed? I hope this isn’t true and I don’t think it is but this is definitely enough to justify a coverup on the scale at which we’ve seen… Anyways these are just my half baked shower thoughts, happy to hear any input or feedback on this topic. cheers to being chimpanzees🥂….or maybe even… HUMAN CHILDREN 👶🧑🧑🧒 submitted by /u/TeaNo6668 [link] [comments]
