Specialized catalogs of UFO cases.
Specialized catalogs of UFO cases.
Recently, I’ve been attempting to compile a list of reports of alleged UFO crashes, as well as a separate catalog of deaths associated with or attributed to UFOs. In compiling the UFO crash list, I’ve found more than 400 separate reports, each of apparently distinct alleged incidents. The list I’m attempting to compile isn’t definitive, and never will be. It isn’t as thorough as I would like, and it's been extremely time-consuming and tiring for me, but it seems necessary. I have to clarify that, from the little amount of research I’ve done, many, if not almost all of these reports seem to have plausible prosaic explanations, and I’m doubtful that UFO crashes, if they occur at all, happen anywhere near the frequency suggested by the amount of reports that exist. My reason for compiling this list despite this is simply to compile these reports in one place, as I believe this kind of catalog could be useful for some people. I feel as though specialized catalogs of specific types of UFO cases or characteristics are very needed in ufology. They make it easier to compare cases sharing specific features and allow researchers to find information on specific types of cases without having to sort through a large quantity of unrelated information. Additionally, the documentation for many UFO cases is scattered and fragmented across magazines, newsletters, archives, books, websites, research notes, newspapers, etc, and specialized catalogs can help consolidate this otherwise fragmented material and also potentially help partially preserve information that might otherwise be lost or become inaccessible. Also, I'm interested in hearing if anyone else here has attempted to create a list of specific cases or reported UFO characteristics. submitted by /u/idpplplidid [link] [comments]
