I'm not sure what it was that I saw last week, but I wanted to share it here because there's a good chance that one of you have an idea, and also that I just now came across two other posts (linked below) showing what I believe to be the same thing. The object was flying roughly south. I was enjoying the clear sky from my window when I spotted it. It was a long and straight object, quite bright, travelling slowly through the sky. The photos are terrible, I know, but all I had was my phone. With my eyes, it looked like it had a line of lights, but the phone doesn't pick that up. What it does show in one, however, is a strange black mark in front of the object. I've attached a cropped version of that photo to show what I mean. It's possibly a side effect of the phone's poor performance of a rushed handheld shot at night, but it's still quite interesting. I watched it move across the sky since it came into sight and until it disappeared in the distance. I've seen people say it's Starlink in another thread. If that's how they look at a certain stage of deployment, fair enough. I've seen a train of Starlink satellites a few times now, and I'm used to watching countless satellites passing through, as well as planes, but this was different. At least for me. The timestamp of the one with the black mark is 21:14:55 (UK) on April 7. Here are the two posts I just came across that seem to be showing the same thing. - In sky over kent - Spotted over Welwyn 7th April26 21:13pm submitted by /u/Hakiroto [link] [comments]
